Descripción
Un clavo endomedular actúa como un tutor interno, permitiendo que los frag- mentos óseos se alineen y se estabilicen, al apoyar la cortical interna del hueso en la pared del clavo. Desde el punto de vista mecánico, el clavo está localizado en el centro de las fuerzas del hueso y más cercano al eje medio del cuerpo, en donde las fuerzas de tensión son mínimas, comparadas con las fuerzas que deben soportar las placas de osteosíntesis y los tutores externos.
