La desfibrilación consiste en emitir un impulso de corriente continua al corazón, despolarizando simultáneamente todas las células miocárdicas, pudiendo retomar su ritmo eléctrico normal u otro eficaz. La fibrilación ventricular es la causa más frecuente de muerte súbita.
